The error code is 4My error code was 7, but I changed the RAM sticks around in the slots and hey presto...everything fine! it's NTFS.SYS that's exploded. during the "loading Kernel debugger dll" during setup.

It worked! This was in my ECS 755-A2 motherboard with an Athlon 64 3200+ CPU. Ubuntu is a good program for this particular diagnostic because it is a free, and if it works, will show the hard drive is in fact in good working order.If the starting to get the feeling that this is out of my league.
