Shouldn't you still be able to download these pictures from your memory card using a simple cheap card reader? Out of desperation and abandoned by Canon, I decided to fix the thing myself. I dropped my canon powershot SD800IS in the middle of my european vacation. if you need a camera that can handle abuse buy one of the Olympus shockproof, waterproof "foolproof " digital cameras.
lens got stuck and wouldn't retract. He says EVERY BRAND of digital camera will get a lens "jam" if the lens is opened while in a pocket or tight case and EVERY BRAND will get a lens I dropped it today and when I turn it on I get the lens error message. It needs a service.

Canon is typical, with 5% of owners needing repairs.Why are there lens problems? My co-worker and I spent about 30 minutes this morning trying all 7 of the fixes on your list, to no avail.
