It is "way" slow on many systems. Very problematic to compile rrd without having a dedicaded development environment for it Not using debian, but seems to be outdated. People have reported segfaults with very recent glibc's; we aren't able to reproduce those segfaults on our machines with older glibc versions. Better, get a debug-instrumented build, and reproduce the problem under a debugger such as gdb. Keep in mind that 4 means that bit 2 is set and no other bits are set. RRDtool 1.2.30 is almost 40x faster on some systems, plus it builds on almost anything, including Windows.

Since it's a shared library You're hosed, unfortunately; it's not possible to know where the libraries were placed in memory by the dynamic linker after-the-fact.
