This could probably be done in the case you have GRUB on the same HD you have Windows 7 on, and may solve the problem. The three suggested "cures" do... I've already had three readers contact me with reports that they were stopped by error 0x800f0a12 during the installation process. The bottom line seems to be that the system partition is critical for a good service pack install experience.
